On Saturday 4th April we met in Hastings to launch our Keep Reform Out Of Hastings election campaign for the May 2026 local elections.

We had speakers talking about a variety of issues from Unions and worker’s rights, housing, women’s rights, the NHS, islamaphobia and racism, disability rights and LGBTQI+ rights. It was a packed meeting!
You can read all about our campaign to Keep Reform Out Of Hastings here.
Some of our speakers have gratiously allowed us to upload their speeches here:

Karen Arther artist, author, broadcaster and menopause campaigner, speaks about the impact of Reform’s racism on black and brown communities.
Because the truth is that every right we have has been won by people who stood up. People who refused to accept racism. People who refused to be divided. People who organised.
Jess Austen NHS nurse and campaigner speaks about NHS privatisation and how things would only get worse under a Reform government.
We, as a liberal-thinking socially-minded caring community must come together, put aside our minor differences and stand on general principles to push back against the racist intolerance and division that is being pushed upon us by the populist right-wing

Andra Georgescu speaks on behalf of Hastings & Bexhill Women Against The Far Right about the impact of Reform policies on women across the UK.
The women who fought for these rights didn’t do it so that people can get away with wrapping themselves in the language of women’s safety while doing nothing to empower women.
